Busy Week!

I know I have been slacking with the pictures, but in fairness I do update this every Sunday. What a week it has been for the Dynamic Duo. Both Lila and Alexis took their first car ride this week, albeit it was a ride in an ambulance being transferred from North Shore University Hospital (where they were born) to Huntington Hospital (about 5 minutes away from our house). Alexis is back to her birth weight and Lila is almost there. Full term newborn babies eat between one and two ounces of formula every three hours, the girls are right in that range already. They are gaining weight on a regular basis and the nurses and doctors fight over who gets to feed them when Elizabeth and I are not there. Gramma Mac and Uncle Billy visited the girls this weekend. They had a great time although Gramma Mac was a Lila Hog. :-) I promise I will post more pictures soon.

Introducing Lila Grace and Alexis Lynn

Lila Grace born at 4:56. As soon as Lila hit the evaluation table the first thing she did was pee. Man is it cold in here?

Alexis Lynn born 4:58 had a healthy set of lungs and she wanted everybody to know it!

Lila Grace's first picture in the nursery. She is less than 2 hours old in this picture.

Can't you read Dad? No flashes in the NICU!

Lila Grace after being washed off by the nurses. Nice lid girl! Is that a Red Sox B on it?

I could not resist taking this picture of Alexis sleeping. How precious is she?

Lila Grace alert and being shown off by the nursing staff.

Lila Grace giving her Daddy some eyes!

Alexis Lynn taking a snooze. not bad for a 2lbs 11ozs preemie.

Lila getting bottle fed in her new home the Isolette.

Alexis being burped after sucking down 10 cc's of formula.

Lila and Mom! (Look at Lila's hand vs. Elizabeth's thumbnail)

There will be more pictures soon.

Febuary 27, 2009 "The Greatest Day of our Lives"

Elizabeth and I would like to announce the birth of our twin daughters:

Lila Grace Sheehan was born at 4:56 PM on Feb. 27, 2009. She weighs in at a robust 3 lbs 8 ozs. She has brown hair and is currently doing excellent.

Alexis Lynn Sheehan was born at 4:58 PM on Feb. 27, 2009. She weighs in at a slightly less robust 2 lbs 11 3/4 ozs. She is a blondie and is also doing well.

Both girls scored 9 out of 10 on the post birth apgar tests, both of them are breathing well on their own and are expected to be transferred from the NeoNatal ICU to a well baby nursery later on today.

Mom is doing well in her post C-section recovery. She is experiencing alot of pain but she is being a trooper. Lila and Alexis's birth is the beginning of an unbelievable lifelong journey which we could not be more excited to begin.

We have hit the week of Larry Bird!

Alright week "33" is upon us. That means two more days and the "days" countdown will be in the teens. Elizabeth and I enjoyed a lazy weekend for the first time in a while. Marge and Eli had the house cleaned for us on Friday. On Saturday our big excursion was to go to Costco and on Sunday we actually got out of bed to eat lunch...Go us! Elizabeth's last day at work is tomorrow (must be nice!). Elizabeth has an ultrasound on Tuesday. She still has the chronic cough but, like the trooper she is, never complains about anything (including not having ankles anymore...please see cankles). Speak to you next Sunday!

Less than a month away!

28 days and counting. Aunt Christine and Uncle Frank trekked up from Georgia again this weekend for some good ole finish carpentry and house cleaning. Together, (Frank, Christine, Marge, Eli, Lisa, Nick, myself and Elizabeth), we finished the downstairs den, the downstairs bathroom, the laundry room, the blue guest room and the nursery. Not bad for three days work. Elizabeth is doing good, she has a big belly that she is trying to get familiar with, see "Big Bruise" on Bum. We can't wait to meet the girls! See you next week.
